School and community support resources
It is extremely important for young people to feel safe and supported not just at home, but in the places where they spend most of their time, schools, hospitals, and community spaces. Yet many of these environments don’t have the right tools, training, or awareness to respond to youth mental health challenges effectively. Our resources are here to change that.

The challenge families face
When your child or young person is struggling with their mental health or living with a psychosocial disability, it can be heartbreaking to see them misunderstood at school or overlooked in the community. Parents, carers, and kin often feel like they’re the only ones fighting for their child to be seen, supported, and valued. This lack of understanding leaves families carrying an extra burden when they should be sharing the load.
How we can help
RiR is committed to building stronger bridges between families, schools, and communities. Our resources are peer-led and lived-experience informed, offering practical tools and training that create real change in everyday spaces. We work to:
- Equip educators and community workers with tools to recognise and respond to youth mental health challenges
- Strengthen school-family partnerships so parents and carers feel heard and supported
- Expand peer support roles in schools, hospitals, and community spaces to bring lived-experience understanding where it’s needed most
- Create inclusive environments where young people feel safe, respected, and connected
Why it matters
When schools and communities are better prepared, families no longer have to fight alone for understanding. Teachers, peers, and community workers become allies, sharing the responsibility of care and creating a network of support around your young person. This not only reduces stress for families, but also gives young people the chance to thrive in environments that truly see and support them.
